Course System Home Terms Summer 2026 Introduction to Writing for Series

Course Description

Summary

This course introduces students to the organizing dramatic principles of episodic series. Students will collaborate to develop a new season of episodes for an existing series. Then each student outlines one of those episodes and writes and rewrites their episode. In this way the course approximates the experience of a writers room.  The course builds on the technical and imaginative foundations of the summer residency, adding to them the ability to inhabit existing characters and worlds and write in the voice of another writer.
